Lena's tips & tricks
A few simple habits that keep your bike running longer and better. And if something is stuck, just drop by.
Oil your chain regularly
After every ride in the rain and roughly every 200 kilometres. Wipe the chain, add one drop of oil per link, then wipe off the excess. The chain runs quieter and lasts much longer.
The right tyre pressure
The recommended pressure is printed on the side of the tyre. Go towards the upper end for the road, a bit less for trails. Top up once a month, soft tyres are the most common cause of flats.
Give your brakes a quick test
Pull both brake levers before you set off. If a lever feels spongy or the brakes squeal all the time, a quick stop at our workshop is worth it.
Store your bike properly in winter
Clean it, oil the chain, pump the tyres a little harder and store it in a dry place. Keep the e-bike battery indoors at 30 to 60 percent charge, it really does not like the cold.
Check quickly after transport
After every trip on a bike rack or train, check that handlebars, saddle and wheels are tight. Takes thirty seconds and saves nasty surprises.
Gears jumping? Often just the cable
If the gears no longer shift cleanly, the cable has usually stretched a little. That is a quick adjustment, just bring the bike by.
